Benedikt was a senior researcher at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and a consultant with McKinsey & Company. As part of the Group for Sustainability and Technology, he investigated the question how policy makers can efficiently (at minimal economic costs) and effectively (to foster innovation) support the diffusion of electricity storage technologies.

To this end, he employed techno-economic modeling and econometric techniques building upon the theories of innovation and energy economics. Working at McKinsey & Company since 2009, he focused mostly on clients in the energy sector, yet supported also finance, high tech and public sector clients on operational and strategic questions. Furthermore, he holds a BSc in International Economics from the University of Tuebingen as well as a MSc in Economics and Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
