Aoife was a senior researcher at the Group for Sustainability and Technology, ETH Zurich and an associate researcher at the DownloadEnergy Policy Research Group, University of Cambridge. Aoife’s research focuses on how organisations understand, adapt to and shape changes in the external environment related to sustainability. Her main focus has been on the energy industry, where the many technological and regulatory changes facing organizations require new ways of thinking and doing. Aoife currently has two main streams of research. The first focuses on cognition at different levels (individual, organisational, field) as it relates to organisational and institutional change. The second explores how new, interdependent technologies affect organisational learning and collaboration. Aoife has expertise in both quantitative and qualitative methods, and has a particular interest in new forms of automated textual analysis such as topic modelling.

Aoife received her B.A. in DownloadEuropean Studies from Trinity College, Dublin in 2003. She received her M.A. in International Economics and Policy from the DownloadSchool of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University in 2008, with the support of a Fulbright Scholarship. In 2013, she completed her PhD in Management at the DownloadJudge Business School, University of Cambridge.

Before starting her PhD, Aoife worked as a research assistant with the Energy Policy Research Group at the University of Cambridge. She was involved in a wide range of projects from investigating international experience with smart metering and energy efficiency policies to assessing advances in benchmarking methods for energy network regulation. During her time as a research assistant and a PhD student, she was involved in several consulting projects for industry, for the World Bank and for the UK government.
