Dr. des. Sebastian Kahlert

Sebastian joined Prof. Volker Hoffmann's Group for Sustainability and Technology in January 2020 as a PhD candidate on plastics recycling and circular economy. He studied Management and Technology at the DownloadTechnical University of Munichvertical_align_bottom (Germany) and the DownloadShanghai Jiao Tong Universityvertical_align_bottom (China). During his studies, he focused on logistics, renewable energies and electric mobility. In his master thesis, Sebastian developed an agent based model to simulate the diffusion of electric vehicles together with the automotive consulting company DownloadFEVvertical_align_bottom.

He was awarded scholarships from the DownloadKonrad Adenauer Foundationvertical_align_bottom and the German DownloadAcademic Exchange Servicevertical_align_bottom.

Prior to joining SusTec, Sebastian worked at DownloadMcKinsey & Companyvertical_align_bottom as a management consultant focusing on digitization and resource productivity. Furthermore, he founded and currently co-leads the German Green Teams to improve the ecological sustainability at the company.

In his spare time, Sebastian likes to go hiking or cross-country skiing in the Alps.
