Marius Schwarz

Marius did his PhD in the Group for Sustainability and Technology at ETH Zurich from 2016 to 2020. In his dissertation, he looked at the transition of energy systems and investigated how policies can support the diffusion and system integration of low-carbon technologies such as solar photovoltaics.

Marius holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration from the RWTH Aachen University. In this context, Marius spent one academic semester at the Linköping University in Sweden.

Before starting his PhD, Marius gained work experience in consultancy. At the Kienbaum Management Consultancy, he investigated drivers of the adoption of electric vehicles. At Accenture, he supported IT roleouts in the automotive industry. He also worked as a project manager at aixsolution, Aachen (Germany), and in production process engineering at Saint-Gobain. Marius gained experience in academia as a research assistant at the E.ON energy institute and the chair of operations and research, both at the RWTH Aachen.

After his PhD, Marius started to work as a senior researcher and project manager at the Energy Science Center (ESC), focusing on Nexus-e, an energy modeling platform.
