Dr. Fanny Frei

Fanny did her PhD in the Group for Sustainability and Technology at ETH Zurich from 2014 to 2018. In her thesis, she looked at the transition of the power sector and investigated how incumbent electric utilities adapt to the changes in their business environment.

She holds a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zurich and an interdisciplinary MSc/MA degree in Sustainable Development from the University of Basel.

Before starting her PhD, Fanny gained 5 years of working experience as a project manager in the Renewable Energy Asset Management division of ewz (Zurich Municipal Electric Utility), where she was responsible for the evaluation and development of renewable energy assets, such as wind farms and biomass plants. She enriched her working experience during her PhD as a strategic assistant in ewz' Energy Economics division.

After her PhD, Fanny started to work as a project manager for innovation projects at VBZ, the Zurich municipal transport services.
