Willem Laumen

Willem joined SusTec as a Master's student from October 2020 to August 2021. He conducted research about the optimization of operational strategies of grid-​connected large scale battery storage systems. In his thesis he challenged his modeling based on a case study of the Grid Booster, a 350 MW battery storage system planned in Germany.


Willem joined SusTec from RWTH Aachen, where he conducted his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration. He worked for Tesla in the Energy Bid Team as well as the Sales Engineering Team. He also gained experience in data science and consulting and worked for Engineers Without Borders on a rural electrification project in Nepal. In his spare time, Willem likes to play football, the trumpet, video games, poker, and chess.
