Alicia Lerbinger joined Prof. Volker Hoffmann's Group for Sustainability and Technology in February 2022 as a PhD candidate. Her research focuses on techno-economic modelling and optimization of multi-energy systems to determine decarbonization strategies for existing infrastructure.

Alicia holds a Master’s degree in Energy Science and Technology from ETH and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration from DownloadRWTH Aachen University. She first joined SusTec in May 2021 for her Master thesis under the PACE REFITS project where she investigated decarbonization strategies for existing districts considering both energy systems and retrofits. Prior to her Master’s degree, she gained valuable insights into the multiple parties involved in the transformation of the public energy system through internships with DownloadSiemens Management Consulting, the German-French office for the energy transition and DownloadgridX, a start-up offering energy-IoT solutions.

In her free time, Alicia can be found either on her yoga mat or exploring the Alps.
