SusTec welcomes Leandro Morales as new MSc Student

Leandro joined SusTec in May 2020 for his master thesis on 2nd life batteries in the context of stationary storage systems.

In his thesis, Leandro will be working on 2nd life batteries in the context of stationary storage systems. Leandro will focus on conducting expert interviews to understand what changes in the current policy landscape are necessary to facilitation the adoption of 2nd life batteries in the energy system.

Leandro graduated with a bachelor degree from ETH Zürich. During his bachelor studies, he focused on combustion engines as range extenders in hybrid cars. He subsequently completed an internship at Designwerk in Winterthur and was responsible for helping to develop electric vehicles. As part of his master studies, he wrote a semester thesis on programming a vehicle control unit for an electric commercial van at Puls Performance Drives in Germany. His master thesis comprised the development and realisation of a two ton electric compact excavator for the ETH spin-off company Suncar in Zurich. He then became part of the Suncar team and has been working there since 2016. Now, Leandro is an MAS student at D-MTEC and will finish his studies this summer.
