SusTec welcomes Jakob Pruess as new PhD student

Jakob joins the TACLE project (NFP 73) as a PhD student. He will investigate circular economy policies, in particular how policy framework conditions such as regulations affect innovative activities of firms towards a closed-loop economy.

Previously, he worked for almost three years as a Junior Economist/Policy Analyst at the OECD’s DownloadDirectorate for Science, Technology and Innovation and the DownloadCentre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities in Paris, France. He was part of a research group, responsible for the production of the biennial DownloadSTI Outlook. It informs policy makers on recent developments and possible future shifts in global science, technology and innovation patterns and their potential implications for national policies.

Jakob studied Economics, Business Administration and Political Science and holds degrees from DownloadUniversité Paris-Dauphine (Diplôme de Grand Etablissement, eq. to M.Sc.), DownloadSciences Po Rennes (Diplôme, eq. to M.A.) and the DownloadKU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (M.A., B.A.). He specialized in Environmental and Resource Economics and conducted his thesis on risk management and sustainable development on the Colombian oil market in cooperation with DownloadTrafigura. During his studies, he gained practical experience as a Carlo Schmid Fellow at DownloadUNOPS in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire and did an internship with the DownloadIsraeli-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Tel Aviv, Israel. He also worked as a research assistant for an institute of economic research in Halle (S.), Germany.
