Sabine Erlinghagen started her doctoral studies at Eawag and at Prof. Volker Hoffmann’s Chair of Sustainability and Technology in February 2011 and finished in September 2014. She investigated the origins of the "smart grid" as a new innovation system. In particular, she focused on the influence of the ICT sector on the emergence of the new innovation system.

Sabine holds a German Diploma in Business Administration and a French Diplôme de Grande Ecole from the University of Cologne and ESCP Europe studying at the campuses in Paris, Oxford and Berlin. In addition to her academic credentials, Sabine’s PhD research draws from 9 years of professional experience. She held various managerial positions at Siemens Management Consulting, Siemens IT Solutions and currently at Landis+Gyr.
