Verena Kontschieder was with Prof. Volker Hoffmann’s chair of Sustainability and Technology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich from July 2013 until fall 2014. In her master’s thesis, Verena investigated the Swiss energy industry’s corporate response to energy policy-induced market change.

Since October 2014, when Verena graduated from the MSc program Environmental Technology & International Affairs at the Vienna School of International Studies (Diplomatic Academy) and Vienna University of Technology, she works for the EU Commission in Brussels, dealing with EU trade relations with the American continent in agricultural products.

Prior to joining SusTec, Verena worked as an intern at the Austrian Embassy in Washington, DC, as well as at the Austrian Economic Chamber in Mexico City. During her undergraduate studies, she supported the Austrian Press Agency’s (APA) editorial finance department and worked in political campaigning and PR. Verena holds an undergraduate degree in Business, Economics and Social Sciences from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (BSc, WU) where she specialized in public and international strategic management as well as in environmental economics. In this context, Verena spent a semester studying at HEC Montréal, Canada, and engaged in a research project on sustainable consumer behavior in emerging markets in Hanoi, Vietnam.
