Abhishek Malhotra conducted his Master's thesis at Prof. Volker Hoffmann’s Group for Sustainability and Technology from May to December 2014. In his thesis, he analyzed the techno-economic viability of energy storage technologies in microgrids and islands.

Abhishek holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (India) and then continued with the Master’s degree program in Energy Science and Technology at ETH Zurich.

Prior to joining SusTec, Abhishek worked as an intern for the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Bonn, Germany, working on a global roadmap for grid integration of variable renewables. He has also worked as an intern at the Division on Technology and Logistics of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, Switzerland, and with GE Aviation at the John F. Welch Technology Center in Bangalore, India.

He currently holds the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship (ESKAS) for international students.
