Former SusTec Master Student enters final of the IET Present Around The World competition

After having won the Swiss edition of the "PATW" in May, Laura Barrabia Gil also convinced the IET jury in Dublin. As regional finalist of the "Europe, Middle East and Africa" region Laura will participate in the Global Finals on November 19th in London.

In her external pagepresentation at the external pageInstitution of Engineering and Technology, Laura condensed the research findings from her Master Thesis in a comprehensible way, explaining how biofuels are made from microalgae.

In a joint techno-economic and qualitative assessment, Laura had analyzed the current development stage as well as the future market prospects of biofuel generation in tubular photobioreactors. The study had been conducted together with external pageGeorg Fischer Piping Systems as part of the annual "Corporate Master Thesis Programme", a newly established framework that builds ties between interested firms from the Swiss industry, highly motivated ETH graduate students, and different chairs at the MTEC department.
